What you can earn

When you start work it will be as a Franchised Driving Instructor within Benson School of Motoring. You will pay to the Company a flat weekly fee 49 weeks of the year (three weeks holiday/franchise free)

If you decide to have a company owned tuition vehicle you will pay from week one just £25. Each week the fee shall increase by £25 untill you are paying your full fee which, depending whether you are part or full time, will be £170 or £215 each week. All fees are plus VAT. Weekly fees, if you own the car, start from just £35 per week.

Company supplied tuition vehicles are mainly Peugeot 206, 1.4 turbo diesel.

Whilst the company pays for all normal running costs, you will be responsible for the fuel costs. The use of the car is for personal use too.

Your earnings are from the lesson fees you charge. Our hourly rate varies in different areas. Our lowest hourly rate is £20 whilst other areas are charged at £23 per hour.

Some lesson fees are discounted by £1 per hour for pre-paid fees etc. We also charge just £25 to pupils for the first lesson as the concession we make for most new pupils.

Examples of earnings (using company owned car)

Part-time
20 hours at £20 per hour = £400
Minus weekly fee £170 and fuel at about £1 per hour of tuition = Gross £210

Full-time
40 hours at £20 per hour = £720
Minus weekly fee £215 and fuel at about £1 per hour of tuition = Gross £465

This is at the lower rate of £20 per hour and calculated at just 20 and 40 hours. Obviously the higher rates will mean more income as will the more hours you work. (Some fees may vary.)
