To Become an Instructor
To start training you will need to have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 3 1/2 years, and ideally not have accrued more than 5 penalty points.
To qualify you will need to pass each of the three DSA examinations.
Part One: A 100 question multiple-choice test and a test of your hazard perception.
Part Two: A one hour advanced driving test.
Part Three: A one hour test of your instructional ability.
All training is carried out locally and around your current commitments.
Part one is usually a 4 week course of evening classes held either on a Monday or Tuesday, from 7 till 9pm (dedicated home study is also available). We supply books, our own training manuals, theory/hazard perception CD and mock papers to ensure you maximise your chance of success at about week five after the commencement of training.
You have over two years to complete your training and qualify, although a period of about 10 months is the time generally required.
We do try, however, to have people working as early as 3 to 5 months after starting. Please inform us how soon you would like to start work.
Training for parts two and three are carried out in-car and with classroom training usually as two-hour period/lessons once per week.
Train around your present job or commitments.
